Last Sunday (a week ago) I was on a walk with the loud man. I LOVE going on walks!
We used to go in one direction, but there is a doggy in that direction who looks a lot like me, but he is mean. One time he got out and almost attacked me, but the loud man picked me up and kept me safe.
So we started walking in a different direction. There are doggies in that direction too, but they are behind fences.
Well, while we were on our walk, one of them got out.
It is a mix breed doggy like me, but is a little bigger than me and looks kind of like my brother Boomer.
First it acted like a friendly doggy, and just sniffed noses with me, which was okay. The loud man was nervous because the dog was not on a leash, and its person was nowhere, but thought it was okay because it didn't act mean, it juts acted like it wanted to sniff noses.
Then suddenly it attacked me! The dog grabbed me by my neck!
It hurt, and I yelled, but I tried to fight back too! The loud man was yelling and hitting the other dog, then he grabbed it and pulled it off of me. Its man got there finally, and took the mean dog home. The loud man took me inside my grammas house cause we were close to it.
Mommy had heard the fight, and came running to see if I was okay.
I had some blood on my teeth, but they could not find any sores or blood on me anywhere and thought I was okay.
The loud man called the cops, who sent Animal Control out to talk to the man about his mean dog.
It turs out the blood on my teeth was because I bit the other dog really hard and bit a hole in its ear while it had me by the neck!
Then two days later the loud man was giving me a bath and he felt something like a lump on my neck. He dug down in my fur and thought he saw a wound that looked infected, so told the man with the mean dog who said he would pay for vet bills.
He took me to the vet, and the SHAVED THE FUR OFF MY NECK.
I got hurt worse than anyone thought I did, because they found three long scratches and one deep hole, where the dog had me by the neck. The hole was infected, and they put me on antibiotics.
Its healing really good, but my people wont let me scratch.
I still like my walks, but they are shorter now. The loud man doesn't feel safe walking me far anymore because no matter which way we go I get attacked by other peoples mean doggies who are not in their yards or on leashes!

Hope Rusty is better now.. guess its not even safe for doggies to go on walks too now.. take care Rusty :)
Tell the loud man to carry pepper spray when you go on walks. Don't let any doggie come near you, the loud man can yell to make it go away. If they do come close, one quick spray will make it run, it hurts a bit but goes away and is very safe. This is good for two reasons: it makes the dog run away, and when it comes home smelling like pepper spray the humans will be all sneezy for about a week! (Doggies get used to it much quicker!) Then the humans will think twice before letting the doggie out without a leash and a human. Sometimes they just sneak out though, our dog did that and got sprayed (he wasn't attacking but that human had every right to be careful and give him a spray anyway, he looks terrifying) anyway he didn't go running up to other doggies for a long time after that!
OH ON!!!!! I am so sorry that happened to you. :( I do not like irresponsible owners who let their doggies run wild. It's not fair for anyone - and dangerous.
Tell your daddy to kick the doggy HARDER, right in the chest or head. Or, as Rebecca suggested, carry mace (pepper spray).
I hope you heal up nice and good very soon. Maybe your daddy can find a park or somewhere doggy friendly to take you for walks - somewhere where other people are responsible.
like mean people, mean dogs are sadly exist, though much lesser in number than mean people.
Hope that won't happen to you again.
